Signs You’ve Found Your Perfect Wedding DressJanuary 7, 2019
Wedding dress shopping can be exhausting and frustrating at times—you may try on a hundred dresses before you find the one for you. But that moment of putting on a dress and knowing it’s the one will make all of the work worthwhile, as will feeling amazing in the dress on your big day. That said, even after trying on a dress that you feel is “the one,” you may still have your doubts. After all, your wedding dress is one of the most significant items of clothing you’ll ever buy. Here are five tips on how to know when you’ve found your perfect dress.
1. It’s appropriate for the wedding you’re having
You may fall in love with a formal, embellished ballgown silhouette bridal gown—but if you’re having a back-garden wedding you may look very out of place making your entrance. The same goes if you will be getting married in a religious establishment: it’s probably not the best location to wear a dress that shows a lot of skin. Make sure you limit your dress search to dresses that are appropriate to the style of your wedding. That way, the dress you fall in love with will be a perfect fit.
2. YOU love it
It’s easy to fall into the trap of wanting to please others with your dress selection, especially when you have a group of ladies accompanying you on your dress hunt. Your mother or a close friend may try to convince you to choose a dress that they love, but you need to reflect on whether it feels right to you. You don’t want to have any regrets about your choice when your wedding day rolls around.
3. You’ve chosen it for the right reasons
You may love a dress you’ve tried on, but make sure to take a moment to think before you move ahead and purchase the dress. Are you settling on this dress because your friend didn’t like the one you really had fallen in love with? Are you buying a dress that doesn’t look fantastic now but might if you lose weight before the wedding? Is Bridal Secrets’ shop closing soon and you’re 99% sure this is the one and don’t want to spend the time coming back again? If the answer is yes to any of these questions, you may want to think about your choice a bit longer.
4. You can enjoy yourself while wearing the dress
During your wedding you’ll want to be able to sit comfortably to eat, walk around to socialize and dance the night away. You may look incredible in Maggie Sottero’s Adalee from Bridal Secrets, but if you can’t move around comfortably or feel self-conscious in the form-fitting dress, you may want to make another selection.
5. You’ve considered all options
Try on some dresses outside of the style that you think will work for your body type or the style of your wedding—you may find something spectacular by stepping out of your comfort zone!
