How To Achieve Your GoalsJuly 3, 2018
Have you ever made a New Year’s resolution, only to see it fail weeks later? Sometimes, you just lose momentum. Statistically, you have less than a 50% chance achieving your goals. When the odds are stacked against you like that, realise this – disciplining your mind through good routines will result in success.
Try these tips and smash those goals today:
Establish Good Habits
Good habits set the foundation for achieving your goals, whatever those goals may be. Practicing self-discipline daily is a surefire way to achieving long-term success.
Here are the habits that you must achieve and maintain:
- Drink lots of water throughout your day. Staying hydrated is crucial for good health.
- Include regular exercise. You get bonus points if you exercise 5 days per week. Performing daily exercise serves as a reminder to ourselves that our bodies need prioritising. Exercising often, means that over time it becomes a way of life and our bodies are in better health as we age.
- Cut out sugar. Sugar causes brain fog, so why sabotage yourself?
- Get enough sleep. Almost 1 out of every 2 adults is sleep deprived.
- Achieve Mindfulness. Practicing meditation clears our mind of clutter.
Know What Success Looks Like
What will success look like to you? I’m a visual learner, so for me, images are more influential than, say, a checklist. A goal that you can see is way more powerful than one you can’t see. Instagram and Pinterest have changed the way we create vision boards. Open your phone and get immediate inspiration so that you can visualise the way that you want to look or feel.
How Badly Do You Want It?
About 4 years ago something in me changed, and suddenly I wanted to exercise and eat right everyday. I wanted to change my life so badly that I refused to return to my old lifestyle. You need to be driven to achieve success. Ask yourself this – what is your level of commitment? Meh, is just not going to cut it. You must have your heart set in it. Having a desperate ‘whatever it takes’ mentality is what you need to achieve your goals.
Wake Up Extra Early
Life is super busy, so join the 5am club. Work plus kids and all those after school commitments take up so much time and before you know it, you’ve spent no time on yourself. Yikes! A couple of hours set aside every morning adds up to a significant amount at the end of the week. Setting aside 2 hours every morning for 6 days adds up to 12 hours you could invest in something that is important to you.
Get People To Help You
Great things in business are never done by one person. They’re done by a team of people.
Working on your goals with a mentor or perhaps a like-minded fellow student is certainly the way to achieve success. Bigger and better things can be achieved when people work together. Finding the right people to help you will get you to where you want to be.
I hope you found these tips useful and I wish you success.
